We're looking for a Head of Procurement to join our team in Baltimore as part of our Procurement function. The successful candidate will work closely with the VP of Procurement on all aspects of the procurement life cycle in this spend category. 

This is a global role that is critical for the business supporting all of our brands globally in this key area of spend, with a focus on our Digital Commerce business. The role will demonstrate value through supporting stakeholders end to end from requirements identification through competitive tender and contract award.

This category is sophisticated, with varying partner needs. The acquisition of data is strategically very important for our company, so ensuring we have the right contracts in place to deliver the transformation the company needs is key.

The successful candidate will have experience of working within a global and dynamic Procurement organization, ideally with prior experience in the Data category. Ideally they will have experience of the standard methodologies, and trends in data science, analytics and Ecommerce to provide expertise to this category. They will champion the procurement processes across the organization, raise awareness, drive forward efficiencies and support stakeholders in achieving required outcomes from contracts.


Key Responsibilities 

  • Establish themselves as the primary contact for their category specialism; promoting the benefits of procurement engagement from an early stage in the Business Planning process.
  • Become a true expert for the Marketing & Data categories, helping the organisation to implement new sourcing strategies and provide insight into market trends, cost structures and cost drivers
  • Lead on the development of strategy plans for their category areas
  • Lead on procurement projects, inclusive of competitive tenders, renewals and negotiations - working collaboratively with key stakeholders and other procurement team members as needed.
  • Ensure all procurement activities undertaken are aligned with Ascential’s internal Procurement Policy & Procedures.
  • Building strong and collaborative partnerships with our key suppliers globally
  • Identify significant opportunities to demonstrate value for money, cost optimisation against budget or cost avoidance and reduction in operational and commercial risks.
  • Act as the primary interface between key suppliers and the business for all vendor related issues as required.
  • Drive change and where needed, proactively challenge ways of working, collaborating with stakeholders to optimise procurement strategies

Your Experience

  • Previous experience at least at mid level within a Procurement organisation
  • MCIPS qualified or studying towards (desirable)
  • Commercial awareness and acute business acumen is essential
  • Ability to analyse data to inform effective decision making
  • Competent using IT systems across both Microsoft and Google suites
  • Ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail and good problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with high energy to drive for results and hit deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Have a dynamic approach to your work, being flexible, professional and diligent under pressure.
  • A strong, clear communicator in both written and verbal formats
