We're looking for a Lead Network Engineer to join our team in London as part of our Technical Delivery function.

As the Lead Network engineer at Ascential you will be responsible for delivering and supporting Ascentials core network services across the globe.

Working in the Global Workplace team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining Ascentials, LAN, WAN, Remote Access and Cloud Networking services used by all of Ascentials brands. Our offices are based primarily across the UK, Americas and China & APAC region with additional branch offices in other countries. Ascential have regional service delivery teams and part of your role will be working closely with these local teams, ensuring we deliver world class customer experience for our users.

As part of the role you will also help define the User and Product networking strategies, meaning you will also share responsibility for our network setup for AWS, GCP, Ali and Azure alongside our on premise Cisco/Meraki Services.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Building and maintaining our Central Cisco and Checkpoint Infrastructure used globally by our teams.

  • Building and supporting our office networking infrastructure, which is typically Meraki based.

  • Supporting Client technology such as Cisco ISE and AnyConnect.

  • Building and supporting our Cloud Networking Services in AWS, GCP, Ali.

  • Performance reporting and capacity management of our network services

  • Working and supporting project work we have, for example acquisitions and integration work.

  • Supporting the Service Delivery teams - and providing knowledge, support and information to ensure our local teams can perform 1st and 2nd level support where possible.

Your Experience

  • Foundation understanding of IPv4/6

  • Experience using network server based products such as ISE, Microsoft NPS and Cisco prime

  • Knowledge of BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, VPN, SSH, SNMP, Radius, MPLS/VPLS SD-WAN technologies.

  • Experience in design, configure, deploy and troubleshooting firewalls, switches and wireless networks with understanding of physical cabling systems.

  • Vendor management experience (I.e. Cisco, Meraki, Checkpoint, Arista, WAN providers)

  • Understanding of cloud networking elements of Ali/Azure/GCP/AWS

  • CCNA or equivalent experience.

  • In-depth experience with Meraki Technology.

  • Experience working with data centre environments.

  • Self motivated, strong detail oriented organisational skills.

  • Ability to speak to both technical and non technical staff with proven customer facing skills

  • Methodical problem solver.

  • Team oriented.
