We're looking for a Marketing Automation Specialist to join our team in London as part of our Marketing function.

Reporting to the Head of CRM Support for Ascential Futures you’ll be a key ally of our Digital Marketing and Brand Marketing teams. This will involve triaging issues and liaising with the wider CRM support teams, bringing a deep understanding of marketing processes such as the lead cycle, lead scoring, audience selection and campaign management. In addition to defect management, you’ll be working on a variety of activities including enabling new Marketo capabilities, third party integrations, data investigations and user training.

As well as having the prerequisite technical knowledge, you will be capable of forging trusted relationships with our internal stakeholders and third parties (e.g. Marketo). You will be naturally curious and keen to expand your systems knowledge, remaining apprised of new Marketo features or use cases.


Key Responsibilities 


  • Manage roles, profiles, sharing rules, workflows and groups;

  • Import marketing lead data;

  • Monitor data integrity to maintain data quality;

  • Perform database maintenance tasks, including diagnostic tests and duplicate entry cleansing;

  • Prepare reports for Digital and Brand Marketing teams and other departments.


  • Take ownership of support cases assigned to you and their resolution, taking appropriate action to remediate issues quickly;

  • Conduct technical assessment of the work and time required to implement changes;

  • Deliver technical changes to configuration or programmes where appropriate;

  • Follow agreed testing and approval protocols for all changes delivered;

  • Where necessary, assign cases to Marketo Support & other third-party application support team, providing clear requirements and test criteria to confirm resolution;

  • Work closely with the Head of CRM Support to prioritise support cases and change requests in line with business and team priorities.

Contiouous Improvement

  • Assess capabilities delivered in each Marketo release and work with the Digital Marketing and Brand Marketing teams to identify opportunities we can exploit;

  • Proactively develop and maintain your domain knowledge and your technical skill set, constantly seeking new ways to innovate and maximise the value of Marketo, integrations and installed third-party applications for the business.


  • Support the provision of end-user training;

  • Customer-focused mentality to assist with internal and external stakeholders and requesters;

  • Develop a strong understanding of the business, its products and operational processes;

  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the system configuration, integrations and installed apps, and how they enable and support business processes.

Your Experience

  • ​​3 years + Marketo experience plus Marketo Certification;

  • Ability to assess business process needs and map these against Marketo and Salesforce platform capabilities;

  • Fantastic communication skills, good at collaboration and an appetite for building Marketo capability across the business;

  • General knowledge of CRM systems is required and you’ll have Salesforce experience ideally;

  • Previous experience working in a service or support function;

  • Ability to clearly communicate detailed technical information verbally and written to a technical or non-technical audience;

  • Ability to function in a fast paced environment

  • Ability to gain quick fluency on technologies with a strong motivation to improve and develop own skills

  • Analytical process driven approach  to troubleshoot technical issues

  •  Ability to work well independently as well as in a team

  • Desire to drive process and efficiency improvements

  • Excellent interpersonal skills in a culturally diverse environment

  • Strong IT skills, particularly in MS Excel at intermediate or advanced level

  • Ability to write and maintain documentation

  • Ability to prioritise conflicting needs of the business and internal users.
