We are looking to hire a Senior Commissioning Manager to join our Fashion team in London on a 9-month fixed-term maternity cover contract.

Role overview

In this role you will be responsible together with heads of content and senior department leads, for planning and running the work schedules of your assigned product categories, as well as sourcing, commissioning, and building a diverse team of global freelancers. This is a role where collaboration and communication is key. 


The team

The Commissioning manager will be working in tandem with WGSN Fashion’s fellow commissioning managers, the Fashion Director and VP to implement the strategy behind WGSN Fashion’s constant content evolution.


Key accountabilities

  • Managing a selection of departments, arranging workload on our planning software for each of the team members within the department, and working closely with the Head of Departments to execute strategy specific to that area of the business

  • Work within an international team to ensure production standards, reports or outputs are of a consistently high standard, published on time and to budget

  • Lead the team members and ensure content quality is of the highest standards

  • Strategising content to ensure business KPIs are met

  • Line management of a team with responsibility for mid-year and end-of-year reviews, setting of objectives and personal development plans

  • Develop the quality of team members’ content, via regular feedback and 1-to-1’s

  • Contribute to overall content team objectives and accountable for specific personal content goals

  • Liaise across the editorial team and key functions to educate on the scheduling of published reports, ensuring clear communication of what/when/how

  • Deliver traffic growth by consistently evaluating internal data and client feedback to improve content standards and relevance, implementing feedback into content delivery through communication via presenting in meetings and written emails

  • An expert understanding of the role data and analytics plays in commercial success, and pinpoint trends that will impact the market

  • Liaising internally with the data team and image management team, while also externally with content and image providers

  • Reviewing and editing reports before publishing to ensure WGSN global content standards are always met

  • Work within an international team to ensure production standards, reports or outputs are of a consistently high standard, published on time and to budget

  • Building a talented network of global freelancers with different skills and expertise across the world

Skills, experience & qualifications required

  • Strong background in an editing and a fastidious approach to fact-checking and peer reviewing

  • Excellent writing and editing skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the cultural sensitivity to work with international teams

  • Organisation skills along, a history of content planning and calendar management

  • Proven experience of successfully building and managing a network of global freelancers

  • Project management skills to ensure a project is planned and actioned from start to agreed deadline

  • A curious and analytical mind and a passion for collaboration across all levels and areas of the business

  • The discipline to self-manage, drive initiatives and execute tasks to completion

  • A real desire to build on WGSN’s Fashion reputation and success
