We're looking for a Head of Data Engineering to join our team in London as part of our Strategy function.

Your Role: This is an exciting opportunity to lead Data for a brand-new digital intelligence product which is currently in the build phase. You will support the design & build and manage a robust Data Architecture for the product. Ensuring published data is of the highest quality will be a key part of the role. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and take ownership of data architecture for the product including data ingestion, data pipelines, data modelling, data quality, data security and master data management
  • Build, implement and manage NLP and ML algorithms and knowledge graphs
  • Design data quality policies and processes and ensure they are deeply embedded throughout the end-to-end data life cycle
  • Ensure the right business rules are defined for QA, put into production, maintained, and tested
  •  Define data archival policies and procedures and stay on top of data privacy regulations
  • Review current data sources and identify additional opportunities for data acquisition
  • Work with the leadership team on building a data roadmap for the product in line with the growth strategy
  • Manage, mentor and train Data Engineers
  • You are an advocate and ally for diversity, equity and inclusion
     

Your Experience

  • Previously held roles leading Data Engineering teams for dynamic, growing organisations
  • Hands on experience managing data through the full data lifecycle from acquisition to publication
  • Worked extensively across different database solutions, technology platforms, business systems and processes
  • Experience working with AWS data engineering tools (or GCP or Azure based tools)
  • Demonstrable experience delivering business solutions using AI by building and implementing NLP & ML based algorithms
  •  Demonstrable experience designing data quality processes and setting policies and standards
  • Natural enthusiasm to keep up to date on emerging technologies and methodologies to continually improve and advance data solutions where possible
  • Previous experience working within a digital product team desirable but not essential
